The Indian River County Board of Commissioners was awarded the 2022 Community Champion Award by the Senior Collaborative Indian River County. Commissioner Susan Adams and Jason Brown, County Administrator, accepted the award on behalf of the Board at the Senior Collaborative’s 1st Annual Members Award on October 20, 2022.
The Community Champion Awards are to recognize those providers, companies and government agencies who were instrumental in helping seniors and saving countless lives during the Covid-19 epidemic.
The award was presented, “For unselfish service and tireless work ensuring the safety and protection of the Seniors of Indian River County, Florida during the Covid-19 Epidemic. The dedication and concern for the senior population undoubtedly saved lives and provided lifesaving vaccines, healthcare, food assistance, transportation, and other services to the most vulnerable populations in Indian River County.”
The Senior Collaborative is a 501(c)(3) formed in 2018. The organization provides navigation services to the elder population of Indian River County by linking them, their family members and caregivers to over 550 non-profit and for profit, providers and services.
The Collaborative also serves as the lead agency for Indian River County’s Age-Friendly designation with Livable Indian River. Their mission is to is, “To improve the quality of life of all Indian River County Seniors through a community collaboration of service providers, funders and advocates.” The award can be viewed in the Indian River County Commission office
