Dyer Award to Little League

news release

In Indian River County, the Dyer Difference Award recognizes introducing America’s favorite pastime to a new generation. Vero Beach Little League Baseball was rechartered in 2019 to recapture the long-standing tradition of teaching children life lessons that build stronger individuals and communities through sports. More than 400 children in Indian River County learn teamwork, responsibility, good sportsmanship, and the importance of physical activity through Vero Beach Little League Baseball, and that number is expected to grow as fast as the children participating. Understanding the importance of teamwork and working hard to achieve success, the Dyer Difference Award committee recognizes the efforts of this local, volunteer organization.

Since 1986, Mustard Seed Ministries of Fort Pierce has been helping provide families and individuals in crisis with the tools to help them not just survive but thrive despite adversity. While the organization is known for its annual Thanksgiving Feast which feeds thousands and provides community and comfort on a day designed for just that, throughout the year, Mustard Seed provides 18 services that address the basic needs of the community. Every year, the organization assists approximately 100,000 individuals in crisis providing food, shelter, utility assistance, clothing, diapers, transportation, furniture, and education to turn a crisis into an opportunity for a fresh start at a brighter future. Long supporters of the nonprofit organization and its many services, the Dyer Difference Award Committee chose to celebrate Mustard Seed with the November Dyer Difference Award in St. Lucie County.

The Dyer Difference Award is all about celebrating the beauty and kindness in our midst. For the Dyer family and the members of the Dyer staff, the award and the $6,000 in donations made monthly between the St. Lucie and Indian River Counties are all about helping to make a positive difference in the community. For the recipients, it’s an acknowledgement of their tireless efforts to do the same and a much-needed financial boost to help further their missions.
