news release
The 3rd Annual Rotary Kids Triathlon will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2025 – a fun and safe, short-course, Swim-Bike-Run event. The race allows elementary and middle school children between the ages of 6 – 13 to participate in a multisport youth event geared for both first-time triathletes and seasoned competitive triathletes.
This one-of-a-kind community event was created to improve the health and welfare of children in Indian River County. Hosted by the Rotary Club of Vero Beach, Vero’s first Rotary Club, in partnership with Indian River County and Treasure Coast Community Health, the event now accommodates 400 children – and it sells out every year. It is always held on the first Saturday of every December and takes place at the Victor Hart Sr. Community Enhancement Complex in Vero Beach. The Junior children between 6 – 9 years complete one-half the distance of the Senior children between 10-13 years. After the Juniors swim three lengths at the Gifford Aquatic Center, they pick up their bikes in the Transition Area and Bike along 43rd Avenue, which is closed to vehicular traffic. Then they complete the race by running one half mile to the Finish Line, where they will proudly receive a beautiful Olympic-style Finisher Medal.
This event is now the second-largest kids triathlon in Florida, and is the only one in Indian River County and along the Treasure Coast.
Additional program highlights:
- Novice or non-swimmers can walk in the heated Gifford pool, or have a friend or relative complete the swim or other segment within a relay team
- $25 early bird entry fee ($35 after November 1), and each child will also receive a large swim towel/cap/goggles, t-shirt, waterproof mini-backpack, a trophy if they place 1st, 2nd or 3rd for their age, and more!
- Every registered child can participate in preparatory race clinics for safety, education, and training for each sport segment, which are already underway
- The event is professionally managed by Game On! Race Events and organizers of the Miami Kids Triathlon
No Child Will be Turned Away – be it disability, skill level, or lack of equipment, and scholarships are available for families needing financial assistance. All proceeds benefit youth in our community, and all participants are invited to be on the Rotary Kids Triathlon float at the Vero Beach Christmas Parade on the same evening as Race Day.
