Vero Beach Museum of Art’s (VBMA) Second Saturday on August 8 is another can’t-miss free-admission day with activities for the entire family. The excitement starts at 10 a.m. with a unique collaboration between VBMA and Coastal Connections that includes a friendship bracelet-making station, docent-led mini-tours, art making in the studios, and much more. This event goes hand in hand with the environmentally focused James Prosek: At Work exhibition currently on view in the Holmes Gallery.

Activity highlights:

• Beginning at 10 a.m., the Coastal Connections team will facilitate an engaging, hands-on experience in the Laura and Bill Buck Atrium focused on protecting our local marine life. Visitors can participate by creating friendship bracelets with recycled fishing line collected from our local waterways and learn more about Coastal Connections’ Fishing Line Recycling Program—VBMA has adopted the fishing line recycling tube at the Riverside Park boat ramp!
  
   
• Between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. families can take a short, docent-led gallery tour as part of the Museum Studios family programming. Then, everyone heads to the studios to participate in Nature in Layers, a gallery-connected fun art activity for children.
  
   
• All day long, tour the two new summer exhibitions; James Prosek: At Work on view in the Holmes Gallery and Jill Nathanson: Chromatic Phrases on view in the Schumann and Titelman galleries.

About VBMA Second Saturdays: Vero Beach Museum of Art features free admission all day, plus a variety of cultural offerings, including the popular Museum Studios for families from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Complementary programming such as performances, lectures, films, and related expressions of arts and humanities will continue throughout the afternoon on select Saturdays.
