The Indian River County Supervisor of Elections will conduct the Logic and Accuracy (L&A) Test of the voting and tabulation equipment to be used in the upcoming Primary Election on Tuesday, August 18.

The L&A test is scheduled for July 24 at 8 a.m. at the Supervisor of Elections Office, located at 4375 43^rd Avenue, Vero Beach.  The test is open to the public and will be conducted in accordance with Florida law.

The Logic and Accuracy Test is a standard and critical step in the election process, designed to verify that voting machines are operating properly and tabulating votes correctly.  Leslie Rossway Swan, Supervisor of Elections of Indian River County, emphasized the importance of transparency and election integrity.  “This test ensures voters that our voting system is secure, accurate, and programmed correctly for the election.”  “We welcome observers to view the equipment testing and security protocols.”

During the test, stacks of pre-filled ballots are scanned through a random selection of the ballot scanners that will be used for vote-by-mail, early voting and Election Day voting to ensure that the scanners are reading every position on the ballot and counting votes accurately.  The ballot test deck is not only run through the tabulation equipment, but also the county’s independent auditing system. At the conclusion of the test, all voting equipment is sealed and secured in preparation for delivery to early voting sites and Election Day polling places. After the election, the Canvassing Board will oversee a post-election audit to verify the accuracy of reported results.
