Sunrise Rotary Vero Beach gives $40K in scholarships

news release

Sunrise Rotary Vero Beach gives BIG.

“Basis Education and Literacy” is one of the areas of focus for Rotary.

This year the Sunrise Rotary Vero Beach Foundation was able to give $40,000 in Indian River County scholarships.

6 Vero Beach HS students, 9 Indian River Charter School students, 2 from ST. Ed’s and 15 from Sebastian HS. Most of the monies came from the Florida Craft Brew and Wingfest fundraiser but about 1/3rd came from donations to the club for scholarships. A Donation of $100,000 was made to the foundation for scholarships but cannot be used for 5 years, so that will have a big impact on the scholarships the club will be able to make in the coming years.

There is one more scholarship to be awarded in August. one FAU student will receive $5000 with the Paul Dritenbas scholarship for research on the Indian River Lagoon.

To learn more about Rotary and Sunrise Rotary Vero Beach in particular visit the club any Wednesday at 6:45am at the Riverhouse on Acacia Road. www.sunriserotaryverobeach.org
