Indian River Transit, known locally as GoLine, has earned its first national award from the American Public Transportation Association (APTA), receiving the 2026 Outstanding Public Transportation System award in the category for systems providing fewer than 3 million annual passenger trips.

According to APTA, this year’s field was the most competitive in the category’s history. The APTA Awards Committee unanimously selected GoLine for the national honor. GoLine is Indian River County’s zero-fare, fixed-route public transportation system and is operated under contract by Senior Resource Association. During fiscal year 2024-2025, GoLine provided 1,594,170 passenger trips, a 17.2% increase from the previous year and the system’s largest annual ridership increase since fiscal year 2011-2012.

In announcing the award, Senior Resource Association Board of Directors President and CEO Karen Deigl gave special thanks to GoLine’s passengers for the trust they place in the system each day. She also recognized GoLine employees for their commitment to safety, professionalism, and customer service, as well as community partners, the Indian River County Board of County Commissioners and County staff for their longstanding partnership and support.
This first national recognition from APTA adds to GoLine’s record of state and national excellence. GoLine received the Florida Public Transportation Association’s Outstanding System of the Year award in 2017, 2022 and 2025. In 2018, Indian River Transit, including GoLine and Community Coach, received the Community Transportation Association of America’s national Urban Community Transportation System of the Year award.

GoLine operates 14 fixed routes connecting residents with employment, schools, medical care, shopping, beaches and other destinations throughout Indian River County. Service is available Monday through Saturday. All GoLine buses are ADA-accessible and equipped with bicycle racks.

The award will be presented during APTA’s 2026 Honors Ceremony on Tuesday, Oct. 6, in Chicago, IL, as part of the APTA TRANSform Conference and EXPO. Route maps, schedules and real-time bus tracking are available at www.GoLineIRT.com.
