news release
Senior Resource Association (SRA) is preparing for its annual Santa for Seniors holiday gift drive and is inviting local businesses, civic groups, churches, HOAs, and community organizations to sign up as official drop‑box hosts. Hosting a donation box is a simple way to bring warmth and joy to local seniors who rely on SRA’s services while helping each recipient feel remembered, valued, and connected to the community they call home.
Each year, Santa for Seniors delivers gifts to more than 1,000 older adults throughout Indian River County. All gifts collected through the program go directly to SRA clients, many of whom live alone or have limited mobility.
Before the gift drive begins, SRA works with community partners to place donation boxes throughout the county, making it easy for residents to participate. This year’s boxes are generously provided by White Glove Moving & Storage, a long-time supporter of the program. Santa’s Wish List is sponsored by Marine – a division of ELGA Credit Union, whose support helps ensure seniors receive thoughtful gifts that brighten their holiday season.
“Every gift collected through Santa for Seniors carries a message with it: You are appreciated, and your community cares about you,” said Karen Deigl, President & CEO of Senior Resource Association. “Our seniors have given so much to this community throughout their lives. It is incredibly meaningful to see our community come together each year to share that same kindness with them.”
What It Means to Host a Santa for Seniors Drop‑Box
Organizations that sign up to host a box will receive:
- A Santa for Seniors donation box delivered directly to their business, clubhouse, or place of worship
- A customized sign with instructions and the holiday wish list
- Flexibility to collect gifts during their own operating hours
- Full support from SRA, including scheduled pick‑up of all donated items
Hosting a box requires no sorting, organizing, or additional staffing—just a willingness to serve as a convenient drop‑off point for community members.
“There’s something incredibly special about watching these boxes fill with gifts and then seeing the joy those gifts bring when they reach our seniors,” said Robyn Orzel, Executive Director of the SRA Foundation. “A cozy blanket, a puzzle, or another thoughtful item may seem simple, but to the person receiving it, it means so much more.”
How to Sign Up
SRA is encouraging businesses, churches, civic groups, HOAs, and community organizations throughout the county to sign up now to host a Santa for Seniors drop‑box. Boxes will be distributed in late October and throughout November, with final pick‑up no later than Friday, December 11.
Becoming a host is easy: call 772.569.0760 x239 or email Events@sramail.org to reserve a Santa for Seniors drop‑box and schedule delivery. Every gift collected through these boxes will be delivered directly to SRA clients, helping ensure local seniors feel remembered and celebrated this holiday season.
