Kindermusik with Ocean Strings Studio is hosting a Paint a Rock Hide-N-Seek game that is bringing communities together by means of rocks- musically themed painted rocks. The idea is to paint a rock and hide it somewhere in the Vero Beach community where someone can find it and hopefully the musical picture or message you have put on that rock will make them smile! This gathering will be on Friday, August 25 from 4 pm to 5:30 pm at Leisure Square and is open to Indian River County families. Children 10 year and younger must be accompanied by an adult. On Sunday, August 27, the Space Coast Symphony Jazz Orchestra will celebrate the centennial of Ella Fitzgerald’s birth with A Tribute to Ella Fitzgerald at 3:00 pm at the Vero Beach High School Performing Arts Center. Under the direction of Stetson University’s Dr. Patrick Hennessey, the Jazz Orchestra’s swinging tribute will feature some of the most glorious songs Ella made famous, including “Blues in the Night” and “They Can’t Take That Away from Me.” Vocalist Linda Cole (pictured), a jazz great in her own right and also known as “Central Florida’s First Lady of Song,” joins the Space Coast Symphony Jazz Orchestra to pay tribute to Ella. During A Tribute to Ella Fitzgerald, the audience will also hear top hits from Nat King Cole and jazz legend, Billie Holiday. $20 advance tickets for adults are available through the orchestra website at www.SpaceCoastSymphony.org or at Marine Bank & Trust (beachside and mainland branches).
