CLASSIC FILM AT NORTH LIBRARY

Join Joseph Gramm at 2 p.m., on Thursday, October 5, at the North Indian River County Library for “Classic Films with a Twist,” which includes a full-length showing of a feature film followed by discussion and a trivia contest with prizes and refreshments.  Admission is free. FRIDAY OCTOBER 6

FIRST FRIDAY GALLERY STROLL

The First Friday Gallery Stroll around and along 14th Avenue  in downtown Vero Beach will be held on Friday, October 6 from 5 to 8 pm.  For those who prefer to ride, a vintage trolley will be touring the area and riding is free!   The trolley will be running on Gallery Stroll nights through April.  Here’s a preview of the exhibits from south to north:  Raw Space, 1795 Old Dixie Highway, presents ON THE OTHER SIDE OF MEMORY, Paintings, Sculptures & Fabric Installations by Colombian artist Alejo Santa Maria. Gallery 14 presents BODYSCAPES:  Photography by Allan Teger to Benefit “Friends in Pink” – a Show and Sale for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.   Artists Guild Gallery features new works by resident artists.  Main Street Vero Beach presents guest artist,  Ruth Feldman exhibiting encaustic paintings.   Flametree Clay Art Gallery “STEAMPUNK” exhibit will feature Victorian-Industrial-Modern technology with a Victorian Age design.

AUTUMN IN THE PARK THIS WEEKEND

The Treasure Coast Pilot Club, presents its 30th Annual Autumn in the Park at Riverside Park on Saturday and Sunday, October 7 & 8 at Riverside Park.  The hours are 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. on both days.  The juried arts and crafts show features jewelry, plants, crafts, pottery and fine art with over 4,000 visitors each year.

 

AT RIVERSIDE THEATRE OCTOBER 6 & 7

Comedy Zone – OKtoberfest Nights:  Shows at 7:30 and 9:30 pm with comedians Norm Stultz & William Jacobs.  Tickets are now $12-$22. Come Hungry! Enjoy fire-grilled sandwiches and cold cocktails!

Live in the Loop: Free Outdoor Concerts beginning at 6 pm with The Smoking Jackets (Classic Rock) on Friday and Bob Houston Band (Oktoberfest Band) on Saturday.

Winnie the Pooh: A Schoolsical Showcase  The classic story of a boy and his “beary” good friend. Performed by local school groups.  Performances October 6, 7 & 8.  Visit RiversideTheatre.com.

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 8

The Center for Spiritual Care, 1550 24th Street in Vero Beach is hosting Wines of the Americas – a Wine Tasting with Bob Stanley on Sunday, October 8 from 4:00-6:00 p.m.  Tickets are $40 per person.  Please RSVP by calling the Center at 772-567-1233.

 

LET GO PERFORMANCE AT VBTG

The American Association of University Women presents Amanda Cox’s dance theatre production, Let Go, on Sunday, October 8 with shows a 2 pm and 7 pm at the Vero Beach Theatre Guild, 2020 San Juan Avenue.  Let Go asks the questions “What happens to those negative voices in our heads? Do they put us in a dark hole or are we able to rise above them and create a life of joy?”  Proceeds are for scholarships, grants and programs for women and girls in Indian River County. THE GALLERIES AT FIRST PRES FEATURES THREE NEW ARTISTS

On Sunday, October 8 from 3 to 5 pm, visit the First Presbyterian Church, 520 Royal Palm Blvd in Vero Beach for an opening reception featuring artwork by Judy Burgarella, Mary Segal and Fritz Van Eden.

 

 

UPCOMING: 

Vero Heritage is hosting  “Evening in Paris” at the Heritage Center on Wednesday, October 11 from 6 to 9 pm.  There will be French music by Brennan Donnelly, Moulin Rouge style dancers by Isabel Powers and her production company, vintage fashion show by The Parisian Hostess and many vendors in the french market.  The cost is $20 in advance at the Heritage Center, The Parisian Hostess or Main Street Vero Beach or pay $25 at the door. Vendors can still sign up at 2140 14th Ave. Vero Beach.

The Cultural Council of Indian River County is hosting its nonprofit Media Breakfast on Wednesday, October 11 from 8 am – 12 noon at Elks Lodge, 1350 26th Street in Vero Beach.  Representatives from local print, radio, and electronic media outlets provide practical tips to nonprofit staff and volunteers about how best to publicize their charitable causes, special events and programs in our community.   To reserve, please submit $25 by mailing a check, calling the office at (772) 770-4857 to use a credit card, or online via the website at cultural-council.org/non-profit-media-breakfast.
