Sheriff Deryl Loar announces 53rd Citizen’s Academy Class dates

Indian River County Sheriff Deryl Loar is proud to announce that the 53rd Citizen’s Academy class will begin on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 with graduation slated for Wednesday, May 9, 2018. The Indian River County Sheriff’s Citizen’s Academy is a twelve week course developed to provide insight to the community on daily operations within our organization. Classes include information and tours of the 9-1-1 dispatch center, uniform patrol, court services, corrections, K-9, SWAT, and much more. Those who wish to participate will be required to attend every Wednesday night from 6:00 to 9:00 P.M. Class locations vary throughout the course, with orientation on the first night at the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office headquarters.

Indian River County Sheriff Deryl Loar stated, “We are excited to once again host our Citizen’s Academy course beginning February 21st. Thousands of citizens have graduated from our course since it began in the 1990s.
