McKee Botanical Garden to renew contract with Sealantro at the Garden Cafe’

McKee Botanical Garden is pleased to announce that Sealantro will once again be at the Garden Café during the 2018-2019 season. Sealantro opened at the Garden Café on November 1, 2017.

Michael Clifford, CEO and Executive Chef, is a Vero Beach native whose restaurant career has spanned both front-of-house and back-of-house from Grand Harbor Beach Club to Black Pearl Brasserie in Vero Beach; Manatiki to Cobb’s Landing in Fort Pierce; and Aquarina Golf and Beach Club in Melbourne Beach.

His partner, Jayne McAllister, is an integrative nutrition health coach and author. Jayne McAllister is the author of Mile High & Healthy: The Frequent Traveler’s Roadmap to Eating, Exercise, Energy and a Balanced Life(Story Farm, November 2015).  Jayne has been featured nationally on Fox News Channel’s “A Healthy You and Carol Alt,” as well as regional affiliates for ABC, Fox, and CBS. She has been cited in Entrepreneur magazine, the New York Post and on in her capacity as a travel wellness expert.

“We are delighted to renew our contract with Sealantro for the upcoming season. We have thoroughly enjoyed working with Jayne and Michael. They offer such a wide variety of dietary options and have been able to accommodate all of our guests,” stated Christine Hobart, Executive Director.

Sealantro’s café menu includes a pleasing combination of healthy and traditional lunches featuring an array of hot and cold sandwiches, salads and house made soups with an abundance of daily specials to serve every palate, including vegan and gluten free options. A children’s menu is available every day while groups of 10 or more can pre-order express boxed lunches. Desserts feature Michael’s house made key lime pie as well as daily specials, a wide selection of Yami’s ice cream bars, and other pastries. Michael and Jayne are always experimenting to bring something new to the Café.  Currently, Jayne is perfecting her latest vegan cupcakes. A full array of beverages is available, from non-alcoholic to quality, well-priced wines and beers.

“We have enjoyed every minute of our first season at McKee,” said Chef Michael. “Not only is the setting delightful, but so are the staff and guests. We have found a lot of synergy for our style of food and now offer McKee-grown vegetables when available. You can’t get much more local than that. We can be truly garden to table.”

Sealantro also offers healthy prepared meals to go for people who do not have time to shop, chop and cook, have a restricted diet due to health issues, or just want to eat healthier. Sealantro’s café summer hours are Thursday through Saturday from 11 am to 3 pm, Sunday from noon to 3:30 pm. The Café will be closed June 28th and 29th, and the week of August 20th.  You do not have to pay the general admission fee to enjoy the Garden Café, however, if you want to visit the Garden before or afterwards, admission is required.
