The Cultural Council of Indian River County’s Art in Public Places program has a new exhibit of Artist Registry members on view at the County Administration Complex, 1801 27th Street in Vero Beach.  Members’ artworks are on view Monday through Friday from 9 am to 5 pm.



The Vero Beach Museum of Art is offering Cork, Canvas & Company on Thursday, May 16 from 6:30 to 8 pm.  Whether your idea of art is drawing doodles or you are an experienced artist, Cork, Canvas & Company is a fun night out for everyone. A professional artist will guide and assist in creating your painting! Bring your own wine and light hors d’oeuvres; all art materials are included. $35.00  Register at and check out the June workshops now open for registration including Photography 101 (June 3); Summer Ceramics Studio (June 4) and The Joy of Watercolor (June 8).

The Sebastian River Art Club is offering classes through the end of May including Beginning Waterolor, Oil Painting, Collage/Mixed Media, Palette Knife Painting & Acrylic Folk Art.  Visit for details.


The  Environmental Learning Center has Pontoon Boat Tours of Pelican Island on May 18, 22, 25 & 29; Qigong on May 22 & 29 as well as a Natural Syrups and Honey Making class on May 11.  Mark your calendar for free admission to the campus on Saturday, June 1.  Visit for reservations.

Go hiking, biking, birding, surfing or sun bathing at Sebastian Inlet State Park.  There is a restaurant on site, The Surfside Grill, for lunch or dinner.  Tour the Fishing Museum or visit the McLarty Treasure Museum to learn about the history of treasure hunting off our coast.

Enjoy an evening of cool cocktails and hot appetizers to unveil the plans for the Faces of Eve at Raw Space Gallery, 1795 Old Dixie Highway in Vero Beach on Thursday, May 16 from 6:00 to 7:30 pm.  This organization, for all genders, is  dedicated to honoring and celebrating all things female. The desire to form a grass roots organization focused on listening to and hearing the voices of women in our community grew out of the Faces of Eve mural. Learn about the exciting programs planned for the 2019 year.


Make sure to visit Seriously Mixed Media, 207 Orange Avenue in downtown Fort Pierce, during Art Walk from 5 to 8 pm on Friday, May 17. The gallery offers an eclectic array of mixed media artwork by artists, Allie Comer, Janet Bird Fuller, Gretchen Green and Sherry Horton.

McKee Botanical Garden will host Croquet in the Garden on Friday, May 17.  There will be flights on the hour (one group of eight is a “flight) from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm.  The croquet entry fee is $35.00 per person. Snacks/drinks are included in this fee. Croquet equipment will be provided.  In addition, there will be a Cocktail Party & Exhibition Match/Trick Shots from 6:00 – 8:00 pm.  The cost to attend the cocktail party and exhibition is $40 per person or $75 per couple.  Hors d’oeuvres and beverages will be served during the cocktail party.  To register or for more information, call 772-794-0601 or email


The Comedy Zone Experience: Comedians Ron Feingold and John Charles perform at 7:30 and 9:30 pm on Friday & Saturday, May 17 &18.  $12- $18.

The Penny Creek Band will perform on Saturday, May 18 from 7 to 9 pm at Sebastian Inlet State Park as part of the Night Sounds Concert Series. The band plays heart-felt, hard driving bluegrass music. Combining traditional bluegrass, vintage country, fresh originals material, tons of energy and excitement. Their music delivers tons of variety that keeps the audience on the edge of their seats while tapping their toes.  The concert is free with regular park entry fees.

Meet the Artists at a special reception at Art At The Emerson in the Emerson Center on Sunday, May 19 from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm.  On view are works by Peg Phenicie showing seascapes and landscapes in oil.  Mary Segal is presenting her mixed media Enchanted Garden series along with marine artist Mark Johnson.


First Baptist Church is having a tree dedication for the centennial on Sunday, May 19 around 1:30 pm (please arrive by 1:15 pm) The dedications will be on the east lawn of the Family Life Center, 2205 15th Avenue in Vero Beach. The ceremony will last about 10 minutes.
