Orchestra Opens 11th Season with ‘Disney & Broadway’

“Be our guest, be our guest” go the charming lyrics from Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. The Space Coast Symphony Orchestra offers a similar invitation when it opens its 2019-20 performing season with Disney & Broadway at 3:00 PM on Sunday, June 16 at the Community Church of Vero Beach, 1901 23rd Street, 32960.

Celebrating decades of uplifting music from Disney & Broadway, Conductor and Artistic Director, Aaron T. Collins will conduct the orchestra in a program of hits that will captivate the hearts of children of all ages. The concert will feature beloved songs from Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, Mary Poppins, Aladdin, The Lion King, and Pocahontas, in addition to Broadway selections from the great musicals Funny Girl, Evita, Grease!, Chicago, Showboat, Fiddler on the Roof, and Mamma Mia.  $25 advance tickets for adults are available through the orchestra website atwww.SpaceCoastSymphony.org or at the orchestra’s official ticket outlet, Marine Bank & Trust (mainland and beachside branches).  Tickets at the door are $30.  Disney & Broadway is free for those aged 18 and under or with a student ID.

The influence of Walt Disney upon musical entertainment is significant, with over 700 musical compositions attributed to the Disney organization. Space Coast Symphony Orchestra Conductor and Artistic Director, Aaron T. Collins, is an admitted fan.”Disney’s musical accomplishments are astounding,” said Collins. “For nearly 80 years, Walt Disney has produced some of the greatest songs in cinema history. When all is said and done, you gotta love the mouse.”
