McKee  Botanical Garden announced the winners of the photos contest this week.  Peoples Choice winner was Juanita Saylor.  Color Category winners were Al Harty (1st), Jennifer Lanam (2nd), Dorothy Hudson (3rd) and Melissa Pierce (HM).  Black & White Category winners were Lee Benson (1st), Susan Grube (2nd) and  Shelley Stang (3rd).  Manipulated Category winners were Lynne Hollingsworth (1st), Susan Grube (2nd), Michele Loftus-Trzcinski (3rd) and Tim Hinkle, Jr. (HM).  Youth Category winners were Cooper Hyland (1st), Addison Merritt (2nd) and Miller Mann (3rd).




The Cultural Council of Indian River County is seeking 2-dimensional artwork for its public art exhibit space at the Vero Beach Regional Airport Secure Passenger Area.  The theme is Vero Beach-The Perfect Destination.  The artist must be a member of the Cultural Council of Indian River County.  For a prospectus, visit   The deadline to send an image of the art via e-mail is July 5th.  For more information, including joining the Cultural Council, e-mail

The  Vero Beach Cultural Art Village is seeking volunteers to help participate in the expansion of the Edgewood Community to assist in community-sponsored events as well as being an integral part of the  Arts Village growth and success.  Visit


 Main Street Vero Beach presents Downtown Friday on June 28 from 5 to 9 pm on 14th Avenue in Vero Beach.  (Note new start time for this event.)  A street party with bands, demonstrations during band breaks, street vendors, and food vendors. This event is free to attend and is family and dog friendly.  Come out and enjoy music, dancing, shopping, food, and join the Downtown Vibe.

Student Musicians

Have Piano Will Duel concert will be held on Saturday, June 29 at the Unity Spiritual Center, 950 43 Avenue in Vero Beach beginning at 6 pm.  Gifted IRC High School jazz students will perform for the “Have Pianos Will Duel” concert with First Presbyterian Church of Vero Beach Music Director, Jacob Craig. Complete with horns, percussion, piano, guitar and a featured vocalist the concert is presented by Vero Vino Wine & Food Festival. The concert is free to the public with $10 suggested donation. United Against Poverty announces Burgers & Brews 2019 to be held on Saturday, June 29 from 1 pm to 9 pm on 14th Avenue and in the Heritage Center.  Burgers & Brews – An American Heritage Celebration street festival is free community event   Live music will be playing throughout the day and night. Specialty cuisine, variety of brews, family-friendly games, local street vendors, a local celebrity dunk tank and free lawn seating will be available for guests to enjoy.

* Indian River County’s Best Burger Competition will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. Participating Chefs are from Sean Ryan Pub, The Tides, Green Marlin, 14 Bones, The Patio Seafood Tavern, Big Shots, Post N Vine, Southern Social and more to come!

St. John of the Cross Catholic Church Fine Arts Series presents “A Patriotic Celebration” featuring the acclaimed St. John’s Brass Quintet and Ryan Kasten, organist on  Sunday, June 30 at 7 pm. The Concert will highlight arrangements of the great Patriotic Song, Marches and Hymns in celebration of our Nation’s Birthday, and a salute to armed forces both active and retired. (Veterans and Active Military personnel are encouraged to wear their uniforms.) A free will offering will be accepted to benefit the Fine Arts Series and the Veterans Council of Indian River County.
