Concert tickets, theater tickets, club memberships, museum memberships, classes and more are just a few examples of gifts that will provide an experience to your friend or family member.  Not sure what show or which class they would enjoy?  Just get them a gift certificate to the theater, museum or club in their area of interest so they can choose themselves.  Need some ideas of the various organizations and clubs in our area?  Just visit Cultural-Council.org to see the choices.

THURSDAY, DECEMBER 19

Community Church of Vero Beach will host its Advent Poetry and Organ Series on Thursday, December 19 at 11 am.  Andrew Galuska, will join forces with a nationally-recognized poet to present the spoken word enhanced by organ repertoire and improvisation. This week’s guest poets are Brian Turner and Ilyse Kusnetz.

FRIDAY DECEMBER 20

Visit the Heritage Center on Friday, December 20 at  5:30 pm to see a movie outdoors on the lawn for Starry Night on the Green.  Free.

Make sure to attend ArtWalk in historic downtown Fort Pierce on Friday, December 20 5:00 to 8::00 pm.  Visit  Seriously Mixed Media at 207 Orange Avenue to see the creative art there and pick up an Art Walk map.

SUNDAY, DECEMBER 22

SUNRISE THEATRE

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer-The Musical will be on stage at the Sunrise Theatre on Sunday, December 22 at 3 pm.  See all of your favorite characters including Santa and Mrs. Claus, Hermey the Elf, Bumble the Abominable Snow Monster, Clarice, Yukon Cornelius and, of course, Rudolph. It’s an adventure that teaches us that what makes you different can be what makes you special. Don’t miss this wonderful holiday tradition that speaks to the misfit in all of us. LIVE FROM VERO BEACH PRESENTS SGT. PEPPER

Music Works, Inc. and Paris Productions present Classic Albums Live production of The Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band at the Emerson Center on Friday, December 27 at 7 pm.  Classic Albums Live will be honoring the Sgt. Pepper album with a “note for note – cut for cut” performance featuring 16 of the world’s best musicians playing the most recognized Beatles songs. MUSIC WORKSHOP FOR YOUNG MUSICIANS

A free two day Music Theory Workshop is designed for youth symphony members, high school band musicians,  choir members, or anyone (young or young at heart) looking to expand musical knowledge simply for the love of music.  The workshop is on Friday, December 27th, and Saturday December 28th from 10 AM to 3 PM both days and will be held at the Courthouse Cultural Center, 80 SE Ocean Boulevard in Stuart.  There is no charge for this workshop.  Register online today:  treasurecoastyouthsymphony.com

SUNDAY-TUESDAY DECEMBER 29-31

Nutcracker on the Indian River will have performances December 29-31 at the VBHS Performing Arts Center. Tickets range from $10-$75 and can be purchased at balletverobeach.org or by calling the VBHS Performing Arts Center Box Office at 772-564-5537. Nutcracker for All will debut for one performance December 29 at 2:00 pm. This one hour version of the production features modified audio/visual effects, reserved seating and a general admission “movers” section, break areas inside the theater, and subsidized tickets prices (all admissions $10). Exclusive funding for “Nutcracker for All” is provided by Quail Valley Charities.
