FIRST FRIDAY GALLERY STROLL – 14th Avenue Art District September 4th. Galleries along and around 14th Avenue, from 21 Street to 18 Street in downtown Vero Beach are open from 5 to 8 pm, featuring new artists each month.

Now on display at the Environmental Learning Center. Photographer Brian LaPersonerie will have his amazing nature photography on display in the Lagoon Room until November 22. His nature photography is showcased on metal prints and features images of wildlife, nature scenes and outdoor lifestyle shots. The images in “An Outdoor Revolution” aim to transport you to the healing reality of the great outdoors. View Brian’s collection, “An Outdoor Revolution” at the Environmental Learning Center until November 22. VBMA Exhibition Avery to Warhol Through- January 3, 2021 The VBMA Avery to Warhol is an exhibition of our new Senior Curator, Anke Van Wagenberg’s selections from the vault. The exhibition will showcase a recent gift to the collection, Henry Hubbell’s Portrait of Three Sisters. From this 1903 painting, we will virtually travel through the twentieth century from the paintings by Milton Avery to Andy Warhol and not only contemporary masters but also selections of the glass collection of the VBMA. Music History for Adult Beginners at The Community Church of Vero Beach  September 2, 11:00am – 12:00pm September 9, 11:00am – 12:00pm Andrew Galuska, Director of Music and Fine Arts at the Community Church of Vero Beach will teach a six-week course in Music History for adult beginners. Content will range from medieval to modern music. Registration is now open.

Music Theory for Adult Beginners at The Community Church of Vero Beach September 7, 11:00am – 12:00pm Join Jill Truax, Associate Director of Music at the Community Church of Vero Beach for a six-week course in Music Theory. If you have little experience and need a refresher, or if you have absolutely no experience, join Jill for this class. Sight-Singing and Solfege for Adult Beginners at The Community Church of Vero Beach September 8, 11:00am – 12:00pm Join Rachel Carter, resident Soprano at the Community Church of Vero Beach for a classes in Sight-singing and solfege. These classes are designed to foster confidence when seeing new choir anthems or hymns. These classes will be offered exclusively on Zoom. To register, please email rachel.carter@ccovb.org

Indian River’s Got Talent is Here! Environmental Learning Center is presenting a new and exciting event— Indian River’s Got Talent! Dust off your tap shoes, tune your guitar and practice your magic tricks— Get your act together, because Indian River’s Got Talent has arrived! This new and entertaining event is in the works, and we are now accepting submissions for our youth division. Submit an up to two-minute video of any talent suitable for public viewing to DiscoverELC.org/IRGT. Cell phone videos are accepted.

Submission: 12th grade and younger submissions extended to November 15Adult submission deadline will be announced soon. Sing, dance, play a musical instrument, perform a comedy or magic act, show off your sports moves and show us your talent! The categories for our youth division will be segmented by grade— Elementary School (Grades K-5), Middle School (Grades 6-8) and High School (Grades 9-12). Submissions can be one person or up to as many participants as you would like. Please only submit one entry.  Indian River’s Got Talent is now FREE to enter.  All who enter will receive two free admission tickets to the ELC. Scholarships are available to cover the cost of the entry fee. Please email IRGT@DiscoverELC.org for questions.

CALL TO ARTISTS

The Annual Juried Art Exhibition “The Best of the Best” is Accepting Entries beginning September 9 at the A.E. Backus Museum & Gallery. Accepting artist applications by advance appointments on Wednesdays–Sundays until 3:00 pm, beginning on Wednesday, September 9 through Friday, October 2, 2020. The application is open to amateur and professional artists with a $30 entry fee per work. A full prospectus with guidelines and application is available to download from the Museum’s website at www.BackusMuseum.org or it can be picked up starting September 9 at the Museum located at 500 North Indian River Drive in Historic Downtown Fort Pierce, Florida.
