Get ready for Home Revival, a home renovation show with a twist now in production for TV-30, the Treasure Coast’s local broadcast TV Station. Follow hosts, James and Jennifer Johnson, a married couple with a home design business and history of taking on houses that have been abandoned and bringing them back to life. James and Jennifer aren’t your average couple—James is an ordained minister who is nicknamed “The Whiskey Priest,” and Jennifer is as likely to be found riding her motorcycle as designing kitchens! They are inseparable, but their greatest joy is forging relationships with local community. That’s what will make Home Revival unique.

The series will not only showcase remarkable renovations, it will feature James and Jen getting to know the unique history of each house, and bringing in amazing and sometimes quirky local artisans, tradesmen and businesses to truly renew and revive each home. It’s not just construction—it’s total transformation!

The Johnson’s new home, Selah Ranch, will be the subject of Home Revival’s first season, with highlights from their previous remodel in downtown Vero Beach. With each episode and season, viewers will fall in love with the Johnsons, and discover the hidden gems of history, characters and locations that make up Florida’s incomparable Treasure Coast.

Home Revival will air three times a week on TV-30-1 W20epD.  The project is underway, but there is no typical timeline for a home renovation.  The show will premier in the fall and the exact date will depend on how the job stays on schedule, on time deliveries, sub-contractors showing up and Florida’s unpredictable weather.  Follow Home Revival on Facebook and Instagram @HomeRevivalFL for updates and a sneak peek behind the scenes of the show.

THE HOSTS

JAMES JOHNSON

James Johnson, aka “The Whiskey Priest,” is an eighth generation Bahamian, born under the British Crown in Nassau. His great-grandmother was born and raised in the southernmost district/island in the Bahamas, Inagua. His family moved to Florida when James was 11. He is the youngest of five children and shares his father’s passion for entertainment, art, poetry and Jesus. James is no stranger to television. In 2013, he was a lead cast member in the docu-reality series, Neale Bayly Rides – Peru, which aired on the Speed Channel (now Fox Sports One). He was one of three nonprofessional motorcycle riders accompanying a motorcycle journalist on an amazing journey from Lima, Peru, to its southern border, solely on motorcycles. The show highlighted the beautiful, yet dangerous, terrain of South America, and focused on an orphanage for disabled children. James was given the name “The Whiskey Priest” while attending seminary in Orlando, Florida. The name comes from the Graham Greene novel, The Power and the Glory, and the unnamed main character who “discovers grace along the way.” It’s an idea that continues to guide James’ life.

JENNIFER JOHNSON

Jennifer Johnson, aka…too many nicknames to recount, is the youngest of three girls. She was born in the Lone Star state of Texas and raised in Indiana, but it’s in Florida that she found her tan and eventual home. Jen moved to the Sunshine State at the age of 22 and settled in the accounting/financial sector, where she eventually grew her own successful bookkeeping business. Jennifer, who was also featured in Speed Channel’s Neale Bayly Rides – Peru, loves taking risks and is an avid photographer with a special eye for landscapes and black and white compositions. Two of her photos were featured in the annual Indian River County Photography Club’s contest where the photos were displayed inside the Vero Beach Art Museum.

Jen’s artistic eye and appreciation for detail has been key as she and James have traveled up and down the Eastern seaboard, renovating homes. While James brings the muscle and the poetic soul, Jennifer specializes in thoughtful touches and details that truly transform a house to a home. In 2018, they took their talents to the public, starting Island Breeze Kitchens, a quickly-growing kitchen renovation business. In 2017, Jen spotted an old, rundown 100-year-old home near downtown Vero Beach. She convinced James to give it a whirl, and together they transformed a neglected property into a gem…a real showstopper that was featured in the Vero News. Now, as Jen likes to say, the “crazy Johnsons” are at it again with their biggest challenge to date…a 6-acre ranch!
