IR Genealogical Society meeting Oct 12

news release

The Indian River Genealogical Society is pleased to announce Pat Burdsall as the program speaker at our regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, October 12, 2021.  The program will start at 11:00 am followed by a brief business meeting. The meeting is FREE and open to the public. This meeting is virtual and pre-registration is required.  Please visit our website, www.irgs.org in advance of the event to obtain a link and for complimentary registration for the webinar.

Pat’s presentation will focus on the little-known genealogy society called The Society of the Cincinnati.  This is the oldest genealogical society in America, having formed at the end of the Revolutionary War and is open to officers who served in the Continental Army under George Washington.  Pat will also highlight some of the other lesser-known genealogical societies.

Pat was born in Philadelphia, raised in southern New Jersey, and has lived in Florida since 1998.  Her passion for genealogy prompted her to join the Indian River Genealogical Society in 2006 serving in various board positions in addition chairing the annual Genealogy Seminar.

She started tracing her own family in the mid-1970s and never tires of researching not only her own family but also loves to help others with their research.  She is now concentrating on researching her very few Irish and German ancestors.
