Live from Vero Beach presents The Hit Men on February 10, 7 pm at The Emerson Center, Vero Beach.  Come with us back to a time when Rock was King. A time when we were young and aspiring… exploring life, underscored by the greatest music ever recorded.  Relive Rock’s greatest hits with The Hit Men — the real guys who performed with legendary artists including members of Foreigner, Journey, Styx, The Hooters, Steely Dan, Cheap Trick, The Rascals, Alan Parsons, 3 Dog Night, Cream, Grand Funk, and The Who. In their exciting multi-media concert, The Hit Men celebrate their associations with these mega-stars, share their first-hand experiences as eyewitnesses to rock history, and perform classic hits you know and love…  “Layla”, “Don’t Stop Believin’”, “I Want To Know What Love Is”, “Feels Like The First Time”, “Eye in the Sky” and many more… just the way you remember them!

McKee Botanical Garden’s 12th Annual Motor Car Exhibition

On February 12, 10 am – 3 pm.  Featuring the Ferrari and Other Italian Exotics.  This fun, family friendly exhibition of motorsport excellence allows visitors to see rare cars like a 1958 Ferrari California Spyder, a lovely 1963 Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint Speciale, and a powerful 1984 Ferrari BB 512i.  Parking will be available at either the Garden or at McKee’s new off-site parking lot with shuttle buses available and is located less than a mile south of the Garden off of US Highway 1 at 146 Vista Royale Square, Vero Beach.

An Evening with Barbara Eden & The Edwards Twins: The Music, The Memories, The Legend on February 12, 6 pm.

The country’s premiere Celebrity Illusionists are breaking away from their regular act and presenting, for the first time, “An Evening with Barbara Eden: The Music, the Memories, The Legend”. The Emerson Center, 1590 27th AVE, Vero Beach 

Valentine Pops! On February 12, 7 – 9 pm

The Community Church of Vero Beach.  presenting soprano Rachel Carter Murphy with Festival Pops Orchestra conducted by Andrew R. Galuska.

This concert features selections from musical theater and opera, suites from blockbuster hits, and a few surprise favorites along the way. An evening of Leonard Bernstein, Gian Carlo Menotti, and Adam Guettel. Get swept away by the music of Giacomo Puccini, Franz Lehar, The Beatles and James Horner, composer of the motion picture, Titanic. 

Art in the Park on February 13, 10 am – 4 pm. Humiston Park, 3000 Ocean Drive, Vero Beach.  Fine Art & Crafts Show put on by the Vero Beach Art Club Members who set up display tents to offer original art to visitors and residents. Art exhibited usually includes: Oil, Acrylic, Watercolor and Pastel paintings along with Collage Wall Art, Photography and Digital Art, Sculpture/Glass Works/Wood/ Ceramics, Jewelry and Selected Crafts.

As the US has grappled with the contentious issue of what to teach our children about slavery and racism in our country, many have suggested we look at Germany’s curriculum on teaching their children about their Nazi era past. Filmed from 2014 to 2019 during a time in Germany that has seen the rise of anti-immigrant and neo-Nazi groups, the young German filmmaker wondered just how effective is that curriculum which is frequently held up as a model for the world.

Gallery 14 presents TropiCollage ~  Derek Gores solo show of all new themed collage art.  On view through February 25. Location: 1911 14th Ave, Vero Beach.

Derek Gores is considered part of the Pop Surrealism and New Contemporary movements, this year will mark his fifth season showing at Gallery 14. Gores was honored to exhibit at the Manifest Hope show at the Presidential Inauguration in 2009 and was commissioned by Playboy to create the cover portrait for their Hugh Hefner Tribute Issue.

New works by Tim Sanchez at The Center for Spiritual Care

The new works are called Reconstructions by Sanchez. “Technically, they’re assemblages,” says Center Director Carol Ludwig, “created from fragments of earlier paintings that he combines with the bravura painting style we associate with Tim. It’s a new way of looking at his work and is very exciting. He’s at the top of his form and more exhilarating than ever.”

The Center for Spiritual Care is located at 1550 24th St. in Vero Beach. Viewing after the opening is by appointment between 10 – 4pm, seven days a week. Call 772-567-1233.

The A.E. Backus Museum presents The Highwaymen: Art / History, the latest exhibition in its annual series recognizing the accomplishments of the original artists who made their names selling their paintings on Florida’s open roads. Drawn from private collections with notable paintings never presented to the public, the exhibition is on view through March 3, at 500 North Indian River Drive in Historic Downtown Fort Pierce.

The Studio Theater at the Vero Beach Theatre Guild makes its debut this New Year! Opening an all-new contemporary style space is the one-man tour de force comedy, Buyer & Cellar.

5th Anniversary Art Show The Galleries at First Pres

On view through March 31. The show will feature the works of local artists Cy Rochon, Pat Traver & Anne Whitney. The galleries are located throughout the campus of First Presbyterian Church at 520 Royal Palm Boulevard in Vero Beach.

Artists Guild Gallery is a fine-art gallery featuring original art by local artist-owners. Diverse styles and mediums are represented, and the art is changed, and rotated on a monthly basis. Classes are offered in oil, watercolor, acrylics, pastels, and drawing.  Located: 1974 14th Avenue, Vero Beach

McKee Botanical Garden presents Dinosaurs Around the World: The Great Outdoors

Through May 1.  In this specially constructed outdoor version of the popular Dinosaurs Around the World exhibition, visitors will be whisked back in time on a dinosaur adventure and a tour of an Earth that’s very different from the one we inhabit today.  Travel back to the time before the continents as we know them existed, when arid deserts covered Brazil and polar darkness was the norm in Australia! With advanced animatronics, a multi-layered narrative, cutting-edge research, in an outdoor environment surrounded by nature, you’ll experience the Age of Reptiles brought back to life!  Open daily to the public Tuesday – Saturday, 10 am – 5 pm and Sunday, 12 pm – 5 pm. The last admission ticket is sold at 4 pm and the Children’s Garden closes at 4:30 pm. Tickets are available to purchase at McKee Botanical Garden and www.mckeegarden.org.

Vero Beach Museum of Art presents Vero Collects: Hidden Treasures Revealed

The Museum’s third curated collection exhibition, representing more than 50 local collectors and over 100 artworks. On view through May 15.  The exhibition is filled with treasures from local collections that are enjoyed in private residences, and now revealed in the public setting of an art museum. The show offers a rare glimpse into artworks seen for the first time at the VBMA, where we can discover major artworks collected in Vero Beach homes. It is a public view into the private world of collecting.  A catalogue accompanies the exhibition and is available for purchase in the Museum Store.
