The Indian River County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) invites the community to attend a ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating the official opening of expanded outdoor amenities at the IG Recreation Center on April 24 at 10:00 a.m. The event will take place on the north side of Wiggins Field, located at 1590 9th St. SW, Vero Beach, FL.
Residents, partners, and stakeholders are encouraged to attend and take part in this milestone for the community.
The project features a new outdoor pavilion and fitness area designed to promote recreation, wellness, and community connection. The pavilion provides a welcoming space for gatherings, programs, and events, while the outdoor fitness area offers accessible opportunities for physical activity in an open-air environment. Together, these enhancements reflect Indian River County’s continued investment in high-quality, inclusive recreational amenities for residents and visitors of all ages.
This project was made possible in part through the generous support of the Florida Blue Foundation, whose commitment to advancing community health and well-being helped bring this vision to life.
“The Board of County Commissioners is proud to support projects that strengthen community connection and expand access to healthy, active lifestyles,” said Chairman Deryl Loar. “This addition to the IG Recreation Center represents a meaningful investment in the well-being and quality of life of our community.”
This effort reflects the collaboration between the Indian River County Parks and Conservation Department, community partners, and funding support from the Florida Blue Foundation.
Indian River County remains committed to enhancing public spaces that encourage engagement, promote wellness, and create opportunities for shared experiences across the community.
