Indian River Charter High theater students have dedicated their time and creative talents to support the Humane Society of Vero Beach with a custom art installation at the 2017 Wine Women & Shoes Vero Beach event.

The ninth through twelfth grade students, with support from their teacher Michael Naffziger, have come up with a plan for creating an art installation featuring giant balloons that will be the focal point upon entrance into the event billed as “A Night That Will Be Legendary.”

“The students who volunteered are doing it to support a cause they believe in,” said Naffziger. “They have multiple volunteer opportunities throughout the year, and the students who chose to help for this event are those who love animals or have pets at home. Supporting the Humane Society is something that they are drawn to, and when the students are connected to the cause they are volunteering for it’s that much better of an experience.”

The theater and technical theatre students will spend multiple hours volunteering their time after school to complete the actual installation at SunJet Aviation.

“Community support like we’re getting from these committed students is vital to the success of the Humane Society,” said Jennifer Downes Assistant Director of Development for the Humane Society of Vero Beach. “Their custom art installation will help transform the SunJet Aviation hangar into a extraordinary, glamorous venue. They want their installation to be a surprise, and I have promised not to give away their plans, but I can say it will be something to the likes of which no one has ever seen before.”

The 3rd annual Wine Women & Shoes event benefiting the Humane Society of Vero Beach will take place November 9 at SunJet Aviation in Vero Beach. Tickets start at $100 and include gourmet food and wine tastings, a glamorous fashion show showcasing multiple Vero Beach boutiques, and a trendy swag bag filled with a variety of goodies. The evening will also feature live and silent auctions, “Key to the Closet” drawing, designer shopping, and a wine raffle.
