M. Maison, 3403 Ocean Drive in Vero Beach, presents the artwork of Wendy Douglas  at a reception on Thursday, April 19 from 4 to 7 pm.  Ms. Douglas will be presenting her new series of Blue Paintings: 1950’s bathing beauties, landscapes and children. Guests will be sipping Prosecco while they shop.  The exhibit is on view through April 24.

The Senior Resource Association presents the Silver Tones Choir singing The Three B’s: Beatles, BeeGees & Beach Boys on Thursday April 19 at 7 pm at First Presbyterian Church of Vero Beach.  Free.

The Vero Beach Museum of Art presents its final Concert in the Sculpture Park for this season on Thursday, April 19 from 5 to 7 pm.  Featured is Don Bestor. Tickets are $10/$12.

FUN FOR KIDS!  8th Annual Fairy & Pirate Festival – McKee Botanical Garden has created a magical day for pixies & pirates at the 8th Annual Fairy & Pirate Festival on Saturday, April 21, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm.  This family-friendly event includes a treasure hunt, face painting, crafts and games, fairy manicures and pirate tattoos, a balloon twister, dancing around a Maypole, a wishing bush, and building your own fairy house at the Gnome Depot.  SmileCloudsUSA will entertain guests with its whimsical clouds in a variety of shapes.  Watch as these environmentally-friendly, slow rising clouds float up, up and away!  Come dressed in your fairy best or swashbuckling gear.  (Costumes are encouraged but not required). The American Association of University Women is holding its 2018 Annual Meeting and Board Election on  Saturday, April 21 at 11:30 am at Marsh Landing, 44 North Broadway Street in Fellsmere.  The program features a talk by Richard Votapkal portraying local founder, Mr. Nelson Fell. The Humane Society of Vero Beach and Indian River County is offering a free horse care workshop by Tribute Equine Nutrition and Fellsmere Feed, Tack & Farm Supply on Saturday, April 21 from Noon to 3 pm. Topics will include basic horse nutrition, feeding a nutritious diet on a budget, feeding hard keepers and senior horses and preparing horses for disasters.  This event is being held just prior to “Help a Horse Day” (April 26), a national celebration created to raise awareness of the plight of horses. The Learning Alliance presents its Fifth annual Moonshot “Read Across the Field” at Sebastian River High School, 8:15 am – 8:45 am on Saturday, April 21.  Free.


VERO BEACH AIR SHOW THIS WEEKEND – The Vero Beach Air Show will be held on Saturday & Sunday, April 21 & 22 at the Vero Beach Airport.  Performers scheduled are: Blue Angels – the United States Navy’s flight demonstration squadron, with aviators from the Navy and Marines; John Klatt Airshows- Screamin’ Sasquatch Jet Waco; Rob Holland,  one of the most decorated, respected, and innovative aerobatic pilots; Dan Buchanan Airshows; GEICO Skytypers Air Show Team; Bill Stein Airshows;  Prowlers of the Pacific; Team Fastrax Skydivers, McCart Jet Motorsports “Homewrecker”; F-16 Viper Demo Team and Chefpitts Airshows.  In addition there will be aircraft displays and a Food Fest!  For tickets and more information, visit


The Galleries at First Pres will have an opening reception on Sunday, April 22, from 3 pm to 5 pm, at First Presbyterian Church, 520 Royal Palm Boulevard, Vero Beach. Featured local artists include Keith Mills, Susan Lavender, and George Pillorgé. Tours will be available as well as an opportunity to meet the artists; light refreshments will be served in the Eleanor T. Smith lounge. This event is free to the community. The works will be on display from Wednesday, April 4, through Wednesday, June 27.


The Space Coast Symphony Orchestra will play the symphonic suite by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov when they present Scheherezade at 3:00 pm on Sunday, April 22 at the Vero Beach High School Performing Arts Center. The SCSO will perform the popular work, inspired by the exotic nightly tales of shipwrecks, thieves and royals, in a concert that also includes the sweeping Fantasy Overture, Romeo and Juliet.  Prize-winning trumpet player and University of Central Florida professor, Dr. Luis Miguel Araya joins the orchestra to present the world premiere of Christopher Marshall’s haunting Transcending for trumpet and strings. $20 advance tickets for adults are available through the orchestra website at Tickets at the door are $25.  Scheherezade is free for those aged 18 and under or with a student ID. The First Presbyterian Church of Vero Beach presents  Christoph Seybold, on Violin and Jacob Craig on Piano on Sunday, April 22 at 4 pm.  Admission is free and donations will be gratefully accepted.
