PERFORMANCES & EVENTS

Riverside Theatre’s Live in the Loop Outdoor Grill and Bar reopened and is offering two dining experiences: outdoor dining with live music and indoor dining with comedy. CDC and State guidelines on reopening casual dining will be followed for outdoor dining in The Loop and indoor dining in the Waxlax.  Tickets to Live in the Loop are free, but must be obtained on the website: http://www.RiversideTheatre.com. There is a limit of 4 tickets per household.

The Comedy Zone, August 22nd

Comedy Corner Featuring Mike Rivera LIVE @ The Black Box August 22, 7-9:00pm Sunrise Theatre presents America’s Most Hilarious Teacher, Mike Rivera. Seen on The View, Showtime and HBO! Come out for Teachers! Mike began his career performing comedy while a student at San Jose State University. Always valuing education, Mike set-off to perfect his Stand-Up skills in the comedy clubs of the San Francisco Bay Area. Within a year, Mike was a regular at all the clubs, opening for big named acts and appearing on local television and radio stations. The Space Coast Symphony Orchestra  will be performing drive-in concerts to celebrate the strength and resilience of our community. Concerts in the special Treasure Coast Strong Series are held in an outdoor setting at the Pathway Church, 1105 58th Ave, Vero Beach, FL 32966 on Fridays at 7:00 pm. Attendees can remain in their vehicles or bring their own seating.

VBMA Exhibition Avery to Warhol Through – January 3, 2021

The VBMA Avery to Warhol is an exhibition of our new Senior Curator, Anke Van Wagenberg’s selections from the vault. The exhibition will showcase a recent gift to the collection, Henry Hubbell’s Portrait of Three Sisters. From this 1903 painting, we will virtually travel through the twentieth century from the paintings by Milton Avery to Andy Warhol and not only contemporary masters but also selections of the glass collection of the VBMA. Music Theory for Adult Beginners at Community Church of Vero Beach August 24, 11:00am – 12:00pm Andrew Galuska, Director of Music and Fine Arts at the Community Church of Vero Beach will teach a six-week course in Music History for adult beginners. Sight-Singing and Solfege for Adult Beginners at Community Church of Vero Beach August 25, 11:00am – 12:00pm Join Rachel Carter, resident Soprano at the Community Church of Vero Beach for a classes in Sight-singing and solfege. These classes are designed to foster confidence when seeing new choir anthems or hymns.

COMMUNITY

McKee Botanical Garden has been selected as a beneficiary of the Winn-Dixie’s Community Bag Program for the Month of August by store leadership at the Winn-Dixie located at 2950 9th Street SW (Oslo Road) in Vero Beach. McKee Botanical Garden will receive a $1 donation every time the $2.50 reusable Community Bag is purchased at this location during the month of August, unless otherwise directed by the customer through the Giving Tag attached to the bag.

Indian River’s Got Talent is Here

Environmental Learning Center is presenting a new and exciting event— Indian River’s Got Talent! Dust off your tap shoes, tune your guitar and practice your magic tricks— Get your act together, because Indian River’s Got Talent has arrived! This new and entertaining event is in the works, and we are now accepting submissions for our youth division. Submit an up to two-minute video of any talent suitable for public viewing to DiscoverELC.org/IRGT. Cell phone videos are accepted. Submission: 12th grade and younger submissions extended to November 15. Adult submission deadline will be announced soon. Submissions can be one person or up to as many participants as you would like. Please only submit one entry.  Indian River’s Got Talent is now FREE to enter.  All who enter will receive two free admission tickets to the ELC. Scholarships are available to cover the cost of the entry fee. Please email IRGT@DiscoverELC.org for questions.
