The Indian River County Supervisor of Elections Office reminds voters with an active vote-by-mail request for the November 3, 2026 General Election to begin checking their mailboxes in the coming days, as ballots will soon be arriving.

The Elections Office mailed 20,858 ballots in the initial mailing on September 24.  This is in addition to the 353 ballots sent on September 18 for military and overseas voters.

What Voters Need to Know:

• Only voters with a current vote-by-mail request on file with the Supervisor of Elections office will be mailed a ballot
• Voters can track the status of their ballot at www.voteindianriver.gov
• Voted ballots must be received (not just postmarked) at the Supervisor of Elections Office by 7:00 p.m. on Election Day, November 3 to be counted

Returning Your Ballot:

• By Mail: Allow at least 7 days for return delivery
• In Person: Drop off your completed ballot at the Supervisor of Elections Office during business hours or at any early voting site during early voting hours

To request a vote-by-mail ballot visit www.voteindianriver.gov or call 772-226-4700.  October 22 at 5:00 p.m. is the deadline to request a ballot to be mailed.  A Florida driver license, Florida ID or the last four digits of a voter’s social security number are required when requesting your mail ballot.

Supervisor of Elections Leslie Rossway Swan reminds voters to read all instructions carefully and sign the voter certificate envelope before returning their ballot.  “Voting by mail is safe, secure, and convenient,” said Supervisor Swan. “We encourage voters to return their mail ballot as soon as possible and reach out to us if they have any questions or concerns about the process.”

Reminders for Mail Ballot Voters:

• Don’t forget to sign the certificate envelope before returning the ballot
• Including your phone number and/or email address on the certificate envelope is helpful in case you forget to sign the envelope or if your signature does not match your signature on your voter registration record
• Missing signatures or mis-matched signatures can be cured by submitting an affidavit, along with a copy of the voter’s acceptable identification, no later than 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 5
• If returning your ballot by U.S. mail, allow one week for delivery
• Secure Ballot Intake Stations (formerly known as drop boxes) are available at all early voting sites during early voting hours to drop off your ballot in person
• Ballots may be hand delivered to the Supervisor of Elections office during business hours and from 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Election Day
• Track your ballot at http://www.voteindianriver.gov to confirm when your voted ballot is received at the Elections Office
