County urges residents and businesses to self-report flood damage

news release

Indian River County is encouraging residents and business owners who sustained damage during the recent heavy rainfall and flooding event to submit a damage report through the County’s online self-reporting portal.

Reports will help emergency management officials document property damage, assess the extent of impacts throughout the community and identify recovery needs. Damage Assessment Teams will begin operations today, Thursday, November 5, 2026, driving throughout residential areas preliminarily evaluating and documenting impacts.

Preliminary rainfall reports published by the National Weather Service in Melbourne on November 3 illustrate the magnitude of the event. Reported storm totals range from 13 to 16 inches throughout Indian River County. “We are asking residents and businesses to use the link provided to assist us in documenting the impacts of this event,” said Ryan Lloyd, Deputy Director/Chief of Emergency Management.

Residents and business owners should provide the property address, a description of the damage and contact information. The form also allows users to upload photographs to help document conditions. Take photos only when it is safe to do so. Residents should continue to avoid flooded roadways and obey posted barricades.
