The phenomenal Russian pianist Sergey Belyavskiy, who astounded local audiences in Spring 2016 with an incredible performance before a full house at The Emerson Center, is coming back on April 21 for an encore performance.
“He plays with such tremendous passion and precision, he quickly captures everyone’s hearts,” states Amy Gallo, executive director of The Emerson Center. “His finale last year, Gershwin’s ‘Rhapsody In Blue,’ started a thunderous, standing ovation that lasted for several minutes. We all remember it so well. At that moment, we knew that Sergey would be invited back.”
This 23-year old piano star was born into a family of musicians. Belyavskiy began his piano studies at age five, and by the time he was nine, he was accepted to the finest music school in Russia. At eleven, he won his first international competition and at twelve performed his first recital. He finished Central Music School in Moscow State Conservatory under Vera Kameneva in 2011 and is presently studying at Moscow State Conservatory under Professor Elisso Virsaladze. A multi-prize winner of competitions since 2005, Belyavskiy recently won the Grand Prize and became the overall winner of the “eMuse” Online Music Competition in 2015 (Athens, Greece). His concert performances have spanned the international globe to Germany, Italy, France, Austria, Norway, Korea, Hungary, Israel, Poland and others. He has performed as a soloist as well as with internationally acclaimed symphonic orchestras and has recorded three solo CD’s.
For his April 21 concert at The Emerson Center, Belyavskiy has promised a reprise performance of “Rhapsody in Blue”.
