HAVE SOME FUN AT POST & VINE!

Enjoy an evening out at the Post & Vine,  1919 14th Avenue  in Vero Beach and support the Cultural Arts Village on Thursday,  October 18 from 5 to 8 pm.  Enjoy heavy hors d’oeuvres and visit artists who create jewelry that will be offered for sale to benefit the Village.  There will be a cash bar and entertainment by Steve Erickson.  For tickets, $40, visit VeroBeachCulturalArtsVillage.com.

FILMS AT THE VERO BEACH MUSEUM OF ART

The Vero Beach Museum of Art presents three films to accompany the current exhibit,  Made In Germany, beginning with Wings of Desire on Thursday, October 18 followed by  People on Sunday on November 8 and Barbara on  December 6.   The films are shown at 4:30 pm and are free with paid admission to the Museum and for Museum members.

Seriously Mixed Media, 207 Orange Avenue in Fort Pierce, features creative works by Judy Coffman, Allie Comer, Janet Fuller, Gretchen Green and Sherry Horton at a special Halloween Art Walk in downtown from 5 to 8 pm on Friday, October 19.   Seriously Mixed Media is also open for Trick or Treat on Second Street downtown on Halloween night.

AT RIVERSIDE THEATRE

Comedy Zone – Oktoberfest Nights – with comedians Tennessee Tramp and Jerry Harvey.  Shows are at 7:30 and 9:30 pm on October 19 & 20. Tickets are $12 – $18

Live in the Loop – Free outdoor concerts beginning at 6 pm with Bob Houston Quartet (Authentic “Oom-Pah-Pah” German Oktoberfest Band) on Friday and Riptide (Oldies Rock n’ Roll) on Saturday.

Smokey Joe’s Café  opens October 23.  One of Broadway’s longest-running hits, Smokey Joe’s Café is the rockin’ revue that will have your hands clappin’ and your toes tappin’ listening to the classics “Jailhouse Rock,” Stand By Me,” Yakety Yak,” “Hound Dog,” “On Broadway,” “Spanish Harlem” and many, many more. SATURDAY  OCTOBER 20
Free Range Strange

  Night Sounds at Sebastian Inlet State Park features Free Range Strange on Saturday, October 20 from 7 to 9 pm.  Free Range Strange is an organic, poly-rooted quartet with their own unique approach to high-energy string band music. They focus on original material while infusing traditional folk, modern bluegrass, old time blues and country.  Admission is free with regular park entry fees.

Dogs for Life presents its 17th Annual Howl-O-Ween Dog Costume Pawrade on Saturday, October 20 at 4 pm at the Off-Leash Dog Park, 1230 16th Avenue in Vero Beach.  Over 100 dogs will be dressed in all kinds of fun costumes and everyone will get a prize! This year’s raffle items will be better than ever! The American Association of University Women is celebrating the Vero Beach Theatre Guild’s 30th Anniversary with a tour by Carol Strauss at the Guild, 2020 San Juan Avenue  on Saturday, October 20 at 11:30 am.  Lunch follows at CJ Cannons Restaurant at the airport.  Lunch is $25 by advance reservation online atwww.verobeach-fl.aauw.net.

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 21

The Space Coast Symphony Jazz Orchestra presents a swinging October concert that highlights the many colors of jazz music, along with a dance exhibition. JAZZ Jam gets underway at 3 pm on Sunday, October 21 at Vero Beach High School Performing Arts Center. Jazz Trombone Professor at Valencia College, Frank Wosar (at left) leads some of Florida’s finest jazz musicians performing works by Duke Ellington, Thelonious Monk, Count Basie, Arturo Sandoval, Miles Davis, George Gershwin and more. The concert will feature a wide variety of jazz styles, including traditional New Orleans jazz, Swing, Ska, Funk, Blues, Pan-Caribbean Salsa, Boogaloo and Go-go.  $25 advance tickets for adults are available through the orchestra website at www.SpaceCoastSymphony.org or at beachside and mainland branches of Marine Bank & Trust.  Tickets at the door are $30.  JAZZ Jam is free for those aged 18 and under or with a student ID.

One Zen Place,  4005 43rd Ave., Suite #4 in Vero Beach will host Thomas Linger, winner of the 2017 American Jazz Pianist Competition, on Sunday, October 21 with seatings available at 1pm, 4pm and 7pm for the 1-hour Jazz Concert. The Galleries at First Pres  is hosting an opening reception for the Fall 2018 Gallery Rotation on Sunday, October 21, from 12:30pm to 2:30pm, at First Presbyterian Church, 520 Royal Palm Boulevard, Vero Beach. Featured artists include Henrimae Bell, Peter Coe, and Anne Whitney. Tours will be available with an opportunity to meet the artists, and light refreshments will be served.  On view through December.

The Vero Beach Art Club begins its season at Humiston Park on Sunday, October 21 from 10 am to 4 pm.  Stroll the artists booths featuring a wide variety of media and styles.

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 23

On Tuesday, October 23, the Vero Beach High School Orchestra will perform “Orchestral Spooktacular,” family-friendly evening of serious, not-so-serious, and eerie music at the Performing Arts Center at 7 pm.   Call the box office: 772-564-5537.

CENTENNIAL EVENTS THIS WEEK

October 22 – 26 is Tree Dedication Week when 30 public, private and charter schools will be provided with a Live Oak tree with a plaque noting the Centennial Anniversary.

On Wednesday, October 24 a Centennial banner will be hung across 14th Avenue at 10 am  by the Heritage Center.
