WE’RE HERE TO HELP as we all navigate through this new norm.

From Mark Wygonik

As an isolated Artist, I feel so frustrated not getting the input and energy from other artists when I’m out in the public sphere. How to receive and give that electricity that lights up my day…that pushes me past the moments of self-doubt about why I create art? How do I get the spark that face-to-face contact with other individuals gives me? In this life…in this community…in this world that we inhabit, I know that I am not alone in this feeling.

As the Administrator for several of the Art in Public Places program for the Cultural Council of IRC…we are seeking your inspiration in a time of social distancing: We want to see what area Artists are saying…feeling…creating. We, as creative souls, are able to communicate through the work we do: Painting, Sculpture, Dance, Music, Design, Architecture…what are you contributing to the collective energy that keeps us humming…? We will post images of your efforts: be they guided by an inner journey…by an external influence…by the simple desire to say “I’m here creating”…we want to know that you are out there…lighting up your world.

When we get back to some semblance of normalcy…when we are able to hang new Art in Public Places shows…we would like to showcase the work that has been created by you during this period of social distancing. Because our venues are varied, and found in different areas around Indian River County…standard guidelines for hanging your art would apply.

We all look forward to showing our creativity to each other, and to the public…and getting the feedback that keeps us going.

Art for art’s sake…No pornography or political or religious propaganda…please. Send JPG or PDF images with your name and the title of the piece (optionally, include a short description) via email to for our approval and posting.
