arts & entertainment
Indian River Clay, a non-profit ceramic arts studio in Vero Beach, is teaming up with Raw Space Gallery for three events this spring that are open to Florida potters and artists.
The events are being held at Raw Space Gallery, a visual arts venue and innovative cultural space at 1795 Old Dixie Highway, in the heart of Vero Beach.
Form + Fire, a Juried Contemporary Clay Exhibit
Indian River Clay is proud to partner with Raw Space Gallery to bring a juried, contemporary clay exhibit to the Treasure Coast. The month-long exhibit will open March 3 with an artists’ reception and close March 28.
It will feature contemporary ceramic artwork from artists working in this diversified medium throughout Florida. The show is open to functional, sculptural, decorative, and experimental pieces that feature clay as the primary material.
Clay artists interested in applying to exhibit their work have until Jan. 31 to contact Indian River Clay. An online application is available at www.indianriverclay.org/formfire. Cash prizes will be awarded for first-, second-, and third-place, and the People’s Choice selection.
2023 Spring Fling Pottery Show & Sale
Indian River Clay’s 2023 Spring Fling Pottery Show & Sale will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 1 at Raw Space Gallery. This pop-up exhibit will feature potters who are members of Indian River Clay, but also is open to outside artists. Potters interested in renting a vendor space for $50 for the day are invited to apply by contacting the studio at 772-202-8598.
Proceeds support the Indian River Clay Capital Campaign.
Yours, Mine, and Ours
“Yours, Mine, and Ours” is a new event hosted by Indian River Clay at Raw Space Gallery. This exhibition is planned to open April 7 and run through the end of the month.
This new concept is a collaboration between two artists, one or both being a potter, and the other can work in any chosen media. Each artist will submit their own individual piece, and then one piece will be submitted as a collaboration between the two. Each team will submit three pieces, and Indian River Clay members can team up with as many different artists as they wish to enter additional sets.
Indian River Clay will be using Raw Space Gallery to exhibit the pieces for this event. There is no cost to enter, and Indian River Clay will collect commission of 20 percent for members, and 30 percent for non-members.
Raw Space Gallery, 1795 Old Dixie Highway, is a large, indoor-space that can accommodate all the art in a climate-controlled setting.
The show will open on April 7. It will run through April and will have set hours for guests to view and buy the artwork.
