The Vero Beach High School Philharmonic Orchestra is having a concert at Trinity Episcopal Church on Thursday, November 1, at 7 PM.  They will be playing Vaughn Williams’ Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis among others.  Free.

Enjoy a wine and hors d’oeuvres opening reception Thursday, November 1 through Saturday, November 3 to celebrate J.M. Stringer Gallery’s Season Opening Exhibition: Spotlight on American Women Artists. The Gallery, 3465 Ocean Drive in Vero Beach  is honored to represent the artwork of several nationally acclaimed, award-winning female artists – Stephanie Amato, Cathy Ferrell, Mary Garrish, Joy Jackson, and Claudia Seymour. Reception hours are Thursday, 4-8 pm; Friday, 11 am – 6 pm with an Artist demonstration by Mary Garrish at 1 pm; and Saturday, 11 am – 6 pm.


The Center for Spiritual Care, 1550 24th Street is having an opening  reception for painter Suzy Mellott on Friday, November 2 from 5:30 to 7 pm entitled Bloom.  The exhibit features all flower-related artwork on view through November.

The First Friday Gallery Stroll will be held along & around 14th Avenue in Vero Beach on November 2 from 5 to 8 pm.  Raw Space Gallery presents The Art Couple, exhibiting the work of Jan and Gus Miller (reception from 5 to 9 pm).  Gallery 14 will exhibit Living the Vibrant Life: Pastels by Lynn Morgan and Quilts = Art: Colorful Visions by Susan Rienzo (at left).  The Artists Guild Gallery continues with collage works by resident artists.  Main Street Vero Beach’s guest artist is creative cartographer, Lisa Middleton (at right) and Flametree Clay Art Gallery’s show is Out of the Fire.

The A.E. Backus Museum & Gallery will hold its annual “Another Man’s Treasure” Sale November 2, 3 and 4.  The Members’ Preview Party will be held on Friday, November 2, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm. CENTENNIAL EVENT – November 3: Veterans Parade downtown begins at the Heritage Center at 10 am and runs south to 19th Street, then turning west to the corner of 19th Street and 18th Avenue to present a program.  Don’t miss If This House Could Talk following the program.

All classic auto enthusiasts are welcome to enjoy the 3rd Annual Car, Truck, and Motorcycle show on Saturday, November 3  from 9 am to 3 pm at First Presbyterian Church of Vero Beach. Admission is free; a suggested donation of $5.00 to benefit the church’s youth group will be gladly accepted.


The Gifford Youth Orchestra will perform its 15th Anniversary Concert, The Crystal Concert, on Saturday, November 3 at 2 pm at the Gifford Youth Achievement Center, 4875 43 Avenue in Vero Beach.  Thirty-one of the forty-seven musicians will be on stage.  Admission to the concert is free, however, donations will be gratefully accepted.  For information about the Gifford Youth Orchestra, visit


The City of Vero Beach Recreation Department opens registration at Leisure Square, 3705 16 Street on Saturday, November 3 for gymnastics & aerial classes for toddlers through teens.  Participants ages 3 and older will perform in Christmas Road Trip,  the annual holiday production.


The Space Coast Symphony Wind Orchestra presents Lord of the Rings, at 3:00 PM on Sunday, November 4 at the Vero Beach High School Performing Arts Center. Virtuoso horn player Juan Berrios, will join the SCSO to present a moving work by composer and guest conductor, Joshua Hobbs.  Many Hearts One Pulse is an elegy for those lost in the Pulse nightclub tragedy. The concert will also feature Johan de Meij’s epic 1st Symphony, The Lord of the Rings as well as  Frank Ticheli’s Angels in the Architecture and Joshua Hobbs’ Into the Blue. $25 advance tickets for adults are available at

The American Association of University Women is holding its Book Review Breakfast on Monday, November 5 at 9:30 pm with a review of Oh! Florida by Craig Pittman at the Richardson Center on the IRSC campus in Vero Beach. Free. Donations of new or gently used pre-K books for the young readers project will be appreciated.
