CENTENNIAL HOLIDAY ORNAMENT NOW ON SALE

The Garden Club of Indian River County proudly presents its 27th Annual Christmas Ornament, commemorating the Centennial of the City of Vero Beach. The ornament is an original design by Arun Wijetilleke and features the oceanside location, the Alma Lee Loy bridge, a Piper Cub airplane, the lagoon, palm trees and an orange tree, all important aspects of the city’s history.  Accompanying the ornament is a brochure entitled “The History of Vero Beach” by Alma Lee Loy.  To purchase, visit gardenclubofirc.org/ornament.html for a list of sales locations.  $20 each.

 Trot Against Poverty 5K

Lace up your running shoes and help run poverty out of town at the 11th Annual Thanksgiving Day Trot Against Poverty 5K on Thursday, November 22 beginning at 6:30 am at Riverside Park in Vero Beach.  All proceeds benefit United Against Poverty.  Race registration is $35 in advance, and $40 on race day.  to register in advance, online, visitrunsignup.com/Race/FL/VeroBeach/TrotAgainstPoverty. SATURDAY  NOVEMBER 24

Main Street Vero Beach invites everyone to Small Shop Saturday at the Heritage Center on November 24 from 10 am to 2 pm.  Browse & shop with local vendors,  visit Gingerbread house making stations, play video games from Gamer’s Realm, watch your favorite holiday movies, enjoy coffee from Rio Coco and take the kids to  face painting by Mimi.  Make sure to shop and dine downtown too and vote for your favorite decorated door!  Three winners will be announced at Downtown Friday on November 30th.  Pick up an event map at Main Street Vero Beach.

THE NUTCRACKER FROM VERO CLASSICAL BALLET

Ballet Vero Parents & Friends, Inc., is producing a traditional production of The Nutcracker that is based on the original Russian work. The performance will be held on November 24 at 2 pm and 7 pm at the Vero Beach High School Performing Arts Center.  With a cast of 83, including 2 guest artists from the Orlando Ballet and 4 special needs children, there will be large ensemble scenes as well as wonderful duets and solos. Souljam

SOULJAM AT SEBASTIAN INLET

Sebastian Inlet State Park will hold the Night Sounds Concert Series on Saturday, November 24 from 7 to 9 pm.  The concert will showcase Souljam.  Souljam is a five-piece band that plays extended versions of rock n roll jam music.  Playing cover tunes of the Grateful Dead, Phish and the Tedeschi Trucks band with a few original songs mixed in. Creativity, self-expression and the joy of their music radiates through their sound and vibe. The concert will take place at the pavilions on Coconut Point, located on the south side of Sebastian Inlet. The concert is free with regular park entry fees.

On December 1, Phil Reid of Phil Reid Photography will be taking professional portraits of families and individuals on the historic Stone Bridge at McKee Botanical Garden during the Holiday Family Photo Day from 10:00 am to 3:45 pm.  Make your holiday cards extra special this year by taking advantage of a one-day opportunity to have a family or individual portrait taken on the historic Stone Bridge at McKee.
