Join Indian River County staff and Botanist Cheryl Peterson to work on rescuing one of the rarest mint plants in the world right here in Indian River County on July 12^th at 9am!

The Lakela’s Mint has been studied for over 20 years by Bok Tower. The Northernmost known Population was found in Indian River County on the Hallstrom Farmstead Conservation Area. In an effort to protect the rare mint, a private parcel owner has generously allowed Bok Tower to collect plants before development.

There are approximately 200 plants on the site that will require digging and placing into pots. Bok Tower staff will coordinate all work efforts. All tools provided—please wear sturdy walking shoes and appropriate clothing for gardening type work. Bring water/Gatorade, snacks, picnic lunch and sunscreen.

Must preregister by July 10 by emailing Conservation@ircgov.com.

Location will be provided by email.  Space is limited. Adults and Young Adults welcome to participate.
