Historic Dodgertown begins December with a second high energy music event on the heels of the recent Jake Owen Benefit Concert. Country stars, The Band Perry, will headline the Step Up America Heroes Appreciation Festival happening at Holman Stadium December 6th. The lineup also includes Country music newcomer JT Hodges and the bluegrass group of Newton & Thomas. The festival will open at 3:00pm with various activities and exhibits. According to ASCF Director of Operations Gary James, “The festival will raise funds for The US NAVY UDT/SEAL Trident House and the ASCF Active Duty Military, Veterans, Law Enforcement and First Responders.”
As the Holidays approach, Historic Dodgertown will also play host to a number of corporate Holiday events. Freedom Health will also be concluding its series of health care benefit meetings that have been taking place since late October.
In mid-December, Next Level Softball brings its organization to campus for the Sunshine Elite Honors Showcase. Coaches from some of the nation’s most prestigious academic institutions will be on hand to scout potential recruits who have both the academic and athletic abilities to serve as a student-athlete.
As schools go on Holiday break, Historic Dodgertown action picks up with more baseball, softball and lacrosse. Bill Pilat’s Lacrosse Goalie School returns to host a camp specifically for lacrosse goalies. In 2013, over 110 participants ranging from 8th graders to high school seniors obtained instruction from Roanoke College Head Coach, Bill Pilat. Roanoke College has finished Top 20 in the nation for 19 of 23 seasons under Coach Pilat’s leadership.
Baseball Factory, one of the premier fundamental training camps in the U.S, begins one of two December Camps December 20-23. Session I will feature training and instruction for players ages 12-14, while also becoming eligible to compete in future Baseball Factory showcase events. Session II returns Dec 27-30 for a new set of campers. The Winter Showcase has been widely promoted by Baseball Factory and will include players from all over the U.S. as they pursue their baseball exploits during the colder months.
Softball Factory, the sister organization to Baseball Factory, will make its fourth appearance of 2014 at Historic Dodgertown December 27-30. The Softball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament guarantees girls a five game minimum, while include training sessions and recruiting seminar. Girls learn during the seminar how to get an early start in the recruiting process as well as determining whether the ACT or SAT is best for them.
Finally, on New Year’s Eve, Baseball Youth brings its All American Games to Vero Beach December 31 – January 4th. Young baseball players who arrive as individuals will be placed into teams after being chosen to compete through a nomination process. Baseball Youth is a national magazine and tournament organization that hosted its Fall Championship in October, and will be returning for its weeklong Majors Tournament in July of 2015.
